As one of the biggest art museums in the US, there’s definitely something for everyone here! My personal recommendations are the Thorne Miniature Rooms and the Modern Wing! Today we also visited the special exhibit on Frida Kahlo and Mary Reynolds, which requires a $5 ticket in addition to general admission. We’ve been twice this year so far, and are planning to go many more times to experience the full building as well as more limited events. It is a HUGE building so I do suggest planning multiple visits if you want to see everything. Although there are unfortunately no free dates in April, there are some coming up! The next free dates start June 5, with free Thursday evenings 5-8 pm until September 25, 2025. The Art Institute offers discount tickets to Illinois residents, and even further discounted tickets to Chicago residents. Chicago residents under 18 are free!
