Solo Date NYC: Yoga, Archery, Vintage & Indie bookstore (1)
Virginia Woolf once said, “A woman must have a room of her own.” I’d add that a woman must also have “me-time” of her own. As cheesy as it sounds, solo adventures—whether across the world or just wandering through Lower Manhattan—are some of the best ways to reconnect with yourself. Here’s my ideal solo date itinerary in NYC: 🧘‍♀️ 12:00-1:00 PM | Yoga at Bhakti Center (Book through ClassPass!) I’ve been searching for a “true” yoga studio—somewhere to close my eyes, breathe, and just be—without the distraction of hot yoga (which, for some reason, is everywhere). Bhakti Center was a pleasant surprise! The room is airy, filled with plants, natural light, and warm wooden furnishings. The class, led by Pooja, was intimate (only four students!) and deeply grounding. If you’re after a trendy Instagrammable studio like Humming Puppy, this isn’t it. But if you’re looking for traditional yoga—an hour of mindful movement and breath—this is the place. 🏹 1:30-2:30 PM | Archery Intro Class at Gotham Archery (700 meters from Bhakti—about a 9-minute walk!) Archery teaches me to “fight without hesitation.”The focus, the steady aim, the moment the arrow leaves the bow—it’s exhilarating. This was my first visit to Gotham Archery (located on the second floor of a Chinatown building), so I signed up for the intro class online ($45 per person). Our instructor, Ryan, made the class super engaging, even adding creative shooting challenges. The highlight? A balloon-shooting game at the end! I almost won (came in second, so I guess I have a reason to return 😉). Pro tip: Bring your ID! Ps: I will share the rest of my itinerary on post (2)!
