Solo Adventures at Leon’s International Balloon Festival 🌺
Each November, the international hot air balloon festival in Leon, Mexico, creates an unforgettable experience. Imagine this: 200 balloons, unique shapes, and airships rise simultaneously at sunrise, filling the sky with vibrant colors in one of the most spectacular displays you’ll ever see. With Guanajuato nearby, I decided to make it a two-in-one trip, and I’ll save the details of my solo adventure there for another post. But first, here’s all about the festival! Traveling from New Jersey requires two flights, totaling around 6 hours. The festival lasts four days, and I highly recommend getting there early to see the balloons launch—it’s breathtaking to watch the colors fill the sky as the sun comes up. There’s also an incredible light and music show each night, with balloons anchored to the ground, adding a magical glow to the experience. Traveling solo brings me a unique joy; there’s something so fulfilling about navigating new places on my own and taking the time to romanticize these little adventures. I believe it’s important to treat ourselves to experiences like this and find happiness in our own company. Though I went solo, I always felt safe, even in the early morning darkness. I stayed at a secure Airbnb with gated access and got around easily with Ubers. I went for the VIP ticket, which gave me close-up access to concerts and special areas. Just be aware, no re-entry once you’re in, so plan accordingly! Most of the festival’s activities are in Spanish, but the pilots come from around the world, adding an international vibe to the event. If you sign up early enough, you can even go up in one of the balloons. While this festival lights up Leon every November, there’s a similar one in Albuquerque, New Mexico, each October, another must-see on my list! 🧳🌄✈️ Ven a vivir la mejor experiencia en el F...
