The Tarrytown rotary club just held its 18th annual duck derby at Patriots Park, just one hour from Grand Central station. They dump hundreds of rubber ducks into the park’s river to race to the bottom and name a winner for 6 different races. The event is free to attend, but if you want to sponsor a duck and have a chance at being the derby winner, it’s $10 for one rubber duck, $50 for a six-quack, and $100 for a bucket o ducks. There are food trucks, community partners tabling, and a big bubble truck playing dance music. This event was a lot of fun for my friends and I, and absolutely family friendly. I highly recommend getting your morning coffee at Coffee Lab Roasters on your way to the event as it does begin at 11am. Once the derby is over, head to Horsefeathers for a duck themed cocktail, which was absolutely delicious. We then walked around the historic sites of the town and popped into some cozy local shops. 2025’s race may be over, but I recommend keeping an eye out for 2026!
