My Go-to Japanese Hair Salon: Arukas
Here’s why I keep going back:
Keiko's Magic Touch: Keiko's skills and aesthetic sense are top-notch. I just show her the look I want, and she nails it every time with minimal fuss. Everyone speaks great English, so no worries about communication. Each session is about an hour, with a super gentle wash, massage, and hot towel treatment. It feels like a mini spa for my scalp!
Great Value: All this for just $60 for a women’s haircut. It’s a steal compared to the quick cuts in Chinatown, offering way more bang for your buck and a happier experience.
Perfect Location: The salon is right by Mitsuwa Marketplace. This Japanese supermarket is a treasure trove, with everything from delicious unagi and sake to Lady M cakes and Royce chocolates. The food court is solid too, with legit matcha lattes. So, I get a fantastic haircut and a delightful shopping trip all in one go!
Heads up: You need to book 1-2 months in advance for weekdays and 3 months for weekends. I usually book my next appointment on the spot. First-timers can call in, but FB bookings are a safe bet!
