Took a scenic train ride to view the fall foliage in Jim Thorpe, PA last weekend! Admittedly we were about a week early from peak foliage, but this was still a worthwhile experience to check out if you find yourself in the area. We arrived around 1 PM and bought train tickets for a 5 PM departure. It’s important to note that tickets are not sold online and are first come/first serve in person for the weekends (weekday tickets can be purchased in advance online). Tickets were $22 pp for a 45 min ride. I do feel as though it was worth it, it was a really unique experience and beautiful to see the sights. Line up about 15 minutes early for your ride, especially if you want to sit with a group. Tickets sell out, so every seat needs to be filled - meaning your group could potentially have to sit separate if you get on too late. I would recommend going the last 2 weekends of October for peak foliage.
