La Caverna - LES
I went to La Caverna last night for dinner, and it turned out to be the perfect evening for a Taco Tuesday experience, especially since it was also happy hour from 5-9 pm. During happy hour, tacos were just $3, and margaritas were $9, which was a great deal. We chose two tacos from the happy hour menu, which didn’t have all the regular taco options, but they were still quite tasty. We went with chicken tacos, something I don’t normally order since I usually prefer carne asada or shrimp tacos, but I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful they were. The chicken was well-seasoned and made for a satisfying dish.
We also ordered nachos and buffalo chicken, but these were not part of the happy hour menu. The buffalo chicken came with the sauce on the side, which was a little different from what I expected. It felt more like eating crispy fried chicken with a dipping sauce, but it was still really tasty. The nachos were a solid choice as well—cheesy, not that crispy but satisfying. We asked for all our sauces on the side, which is likely why the buffalo chicken’s sauce came separately. Despite that, everything still worked perfectly, and we enjoyed dipping the buffalo chicken in the tangy sauce.
For dessert, we indulged in churros, which were absolutely delicious.
Before coming to La Caverna, I had seen some mixed reviews on Yelp, so I was a little hesitant. However, I was really impressed with the experience overall. The service was excellent; our server was attentive, and our food arrived in a timely manner—except for the dessert, which came out a little later, but we didn’t mind at all. The ambiance of the restaurant was unique and cozy. The space is designed to resemble a cave, with dim lighting and rugged, stone-like walls, which added a charming and rustic feel to the atmosphere. They played upbeat pop music, which kept the vibe lively, but it wasn’t crowded at all for a Tuesday evening, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal.
