Immersive theatre on Governor’s Island 🎭🖤
If, like me, you’ve been feeling super bummed about the ending of shows like Sleep No More, the abrupt closure of Life and Trust, and overall lacking of current immersive theatre experiences, then Death of Rasputin is here to make things better. When you enter the Arts Center at Governors Island, you enter 1916 Petrograd, Russia, where war, scandal, and the occult collide. You start at Katya’s bar, where you can grab a drink before the show starts. Once the show starts your phones have to go away and you need to keep quiet. You follow various actors around to catch different parts of the story until coming together for a grand finale. You’re also encouraged to explore the set and immerse yourself in various ways. This show was different than other immersive shows since the performers have a lot of dialogue and interact more with the audience. You may find yourself serving actors water, dancing, reading aloud, or playing dress up! Unfortunately the production is a bit short and only runs through once. This left me feeling like I missed a bit so I may consider going again if they extend the run once more! Currently ending June 28th, they offer shows Thurs-Sun. Tickets include your ticket to the governor island ferry. You’re encouraged to dress on theme and wear all black (and honestly only a few people didn’t abide, which made them stand out.) The bar is also now open to the public and you can hangout longer after the show. Info and tickets: Death of Rasputin | Death Of Rasputin Price: $140 Run time: 75-90 min
