Randomly walked by pier 96 during the end of the summer and stumbled upon the free kayaking offered on the Hudson River. I had heard of the free kayaking program before but I have never tried. Luckily there was no wait and we were able to kayak as soon as we wanted. The area where kayaks are allowed is limited to the area between the piers but you can see a little of the NJ side and NY skyline in Hells Kitchen.
