Favorite BBQ of south Florida
I’m originally from Tennessee and I love BBQ. I’ve missed BBQ even more than usual ever since I visited Austin for the first time last year. I finally found a bbq spot that compares to what I know and love. This is Mission BBQ, which has many locations across the U.S. There are over two dozen locations in Florida, like in Naples, Orlando, Sarasota, Port St Lucie, Fort Lauderdale, Doral, Ocala, and more. The one I went to is in the Weston area of Davie (4412 Weston Rd).
Mission BBQ’s meats include oak-smoked brisket, oak-smoked pulled pork, sausage, turkey, salmon (*sandwich only), pulled chicken, and baby back ribs.
My partner and I got two meat samplers and two sides. Our total came to $36ish. Cornbread was included. I loved the sausage and I’m not a sausage person. My favorite sauce was the Texas one. My partner’s was the Smoky Mountain BBQ sauce. Be sure to try the Florida bbq sauce, which I’d describe as having mango habanero notes.
While I can’t say the BBQ compares to Franklin’s in Austin, the BBQ is way better than most of what I’ve tried in Florida, and I will be going back.
Tip: if you want ribs without listening to country music, you should go to a south Florida restaurant called Kaluz. You can literally eat those ribs with a spoon if you wanted to.
Be sure to save this post for your next bbq craving. 💫
