I may have previously claimed Bae or Marky’s Caviar was my favorite restaurant at the Hard Rock guitar-shaped Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL, but I recently tried Cipresso and it’s now up there on my list. Cipresso is a resort casual Italian restaurant located between the slot machines and the indoor fountain of the casino area. I’m unsure why it has <4 stars on Yelp because the food was incredible. Our server, Paul, was also incredible. Paul said the chef is from Sicily and literally everything in the kitchen is either made fresh in-house daily or is shipped from Italy. Reservations are hard to get. The entree photos online made the dishes look tiny, but none of our dishes were tiny. If a table of 4 people order 3 appetizers, 4 entrees, and 2 desserts - it is definitely too much. The bread was super delicious, especially the focaccia. The appetizer meatballs (3 large ones WITH bread, $18) were delicious. They are made with 3 meats including veal, so there’s a little bit of grainy texture there. I would order them again. Burrata was also delicious. I think I prefer it. For entrees, sometimes they have specials like dover sole served tableside. I’m not one to order a lasagna, but I tried the Lasagna Verde ($27) and it was amazing. It was topped with crispy fried basil. Idk why the lasagna was green, but I loved the dish. Paul says it’s a hit. My guests preferred my lasagna over what they ordered. One ordered a steak, one ordered chicken marsala ($31), and another ordered seafood. For dessert, my guests loved Paul’s recommendation, the mascarpone cheesecake ($14), while my partner and I loved the chocolate dome ($14, pictured). It was delicious. The cappuccino was delicious. It came with an amaretto cookie that elevated it to something incredible. I highly recommend getting a reservation at Cipresso or lining up to get a seat at the bar if you can. Be sure to save this for your next trip to south Florida. 💫
