Fall Foliage and Rock Climbing with REI! 🍁🍂
⭐️ Active day trip idea for adventure seekers… outdoor rock climbing class with REI! Shawangunks Rock Climbing Adventure | Ro... I ⛰️ A full day of top rope climbing at Peter's Kill Climbing Area @ Minnewaska State Park Shawangunks mountain range (“the gunks”), a world-class rock climbing destination, with instruction on rope knots and belay as well 🧗🏻‍♀️ There were only 3 of us in my class, so the direct and personalized attention from our guide Greg was top notch (pun intended). I’ve climbed in several gyms and the tips from my guide helped to improved my technique drastically to make me a more efficient climber (and belayer)! 📝 Whether you’re an experienced climber, looking to escape the gym like myself, or are completely new to climbing, the expert guides provide incredibly friendly and thorough instruction in a relaxed learning environment! Greg kindly provided local recs and history on the gunks, he was so knowledgeable of the area! ℹ️ Details: $199 includes technical gear (shoes, harness, helmet, ropes etc), 4:1 climber to guide ratio, experienced and certified guide, and park entrance! Class is approximately 9am - 4pm, I packed my own lunch but the guide brought snacks which was so sweet! 🚙 Only 90 miles from NYC — you could take a train to Poughkeepsie and Uber, bus to New Paltz I opted to rent a car and hike around Lake Minnewaska after! 🚲 Also, REI offers REI Adventures (3+ day trips to national parks etc) and Classes & Events (local day trips) - where I found this experience! There are kayaking, cycling, backpacking trips, and more - both local and across North America!

Wow! This looks like a super fun experience! 😍 Could I go even if I’ve never climbed before? Also, I’m curious what would be the required fitness level to do this?

@Rita Yes open to all levels and experiences! There may be courses tailored more beginners or experience though
