I was able to get free tickets to mercer labs and was excited to go since I saw so many videos of it on tiktok. The museum is located in an area with a lot of one way roads and one sided parking so parking can be a bit difficult. The museum has 15 interactive rooms and I did love the concept of them but I did not feel that the experience was worth it if you are paying the full general admission price of 52$. A lot of the rooms are simply large projections which did look incredibly cool and came out amazing in videos but I’m just not sure it’s worth the money. I think they have cheaper tickets some days that are even half price.
Other rooms beyond the projections consisted of a sound room where you can close your eyes to experience being transported into a jungle or ocean which I found very relaxing , a room with fake flowers with more projections, a ball pit which was not that large or steep at all, a chess room that no one was really playing in since the life size pieces were a bit heavy so I’m not sure if it was for show or to actually play, a room with a robot writing the same sentence over and over in sand , and a music box room. The one activity I found really fun and cool was the coloring station where you can choose a figure to color and watch it come to life on screen. I did find the experience fun but 52$ is a bit much for a bunch of projections when you have places like the Genesis House having free immersive experiences similar to these on a smaller scale.
There are drinks/food available to purchase, some tickets come with free mochi. The area has a lot to do since it’s right by the oculus, World Trade Center, 9/11 memorial, etc so you can head over there once finished with the museum. I would recommend as a one time experience but there are other activities worth the money!
