I am SO glad I went to go see The Wiz! I wasn’t sure what to expect since reviews have been mixed, but I ended up really loving it! 🎭 Deborah Cox as Glinda and Wayne Brady as The Wiz- wow wow wow. Seeing these two live was a TREAT! Their voices were amazing. I wish the role of Glinda was bigger. I could watch and listen to Deborah Cox all day! Wayne Brady really impressed me with his singing, dancing, and acting- triple threat for sure. ⭐️ Now for the leads…. I saw Dorothy’s understudy. She was good, but she seemed a little nervous maybe? I can’t put my finger on it. The show just opened, so it honestly could’ve been her first performance- who knows. The three who played the scarecrow, tinman, and lion were fantastic- SO funny, beautiful voices, and excellent dancers. The ensemble WORKEDDDD the entire show. There were so many dance numbers, and I think they are probably one of the most talented ensembles I’ve seen in a very long time. Major credit goes to them! Lastly, the sets were well done and colorful, as were the costumes. There were a lot of costume and set changes, which helped the show move along and keep audience members engaged. I recommend this show for sure!
