EU Open House
I went to the EU Open House today—the second weekend of Embassy Day, focused just on EU countries. It’s a fun and unique D.C. experience, but be prepared for long lines (anywhere from 30 minutes to 2.5 hours!). Even though we got there early, we only managed to visit three embassies.
My tip for next year: skip the EU Delegation/Belgian Embassy and go straight to Embassy Row past Dupont Circle. The lines there were shorter—usually under an hour—thanks to the high number of embassies nearby. Some even had street performances while you waited!
Pick 2–3 embassies that are close together, since you’ll probably only have time to visit 3–4 max total. Planning ahead makes all the difference.
Hope these tips help you plan for next year!
