City girls who walk: my favorite free nyc social group
I’ve been participating in City Girls Who Walk for nearly two years now. This is a female & non-binary walking group that meets on at least a weekly basis with other special walks sometimes in between. The weekly walks typically happen in Central Park & the special walks can really happen anywhere.
This past week I attended 2 city girls events. The first was the walk with Supergoop. This consisted of us going from wash sq park to the Union Square Sephora where we could get a gift with purchase on Supergoop purchases. They also gave a $10 to the first 50 people who showed up and everyone else got the really cute swag bag tote bags.
The second event was a more exclusive walk where we were featured in the Good Morning America spotlight on CGWW.
The weekly Sunday walks are normal and non sponsored and typically have a more reasonable turn out. The less-frequent sponsored walks have really high turn out, especially when free things are promised. If you’re particularly interested those walks, go early (like 30 mins / 1 hr early) when there are limited supplies of whatever free merch you’re trynna get.
City girls also hosts a number of other events which I haven’t checked out yet like a book club, happy hour, and community service (City Girls Who Care).
Because some of the groups can be pretty large for sponsored walks, if you’re looking to make new friends (which I met one of my best friends at a walk) you’ll probs have better luck at any of the non-sponsored events.
