Beginner to Badass at Kick Axe
As two total axe-throwing rookies—one of us with notoriously terrible coordination (me) —we walked into Kick Axe Brooklyn expecting a laugh. What we got was a surprisingly empowering afternoon and a brand-new survival skill. The space is fun from the start, with a vibey lounge where we passed the time playing giant Jenga and Connect 4. Once inside, the real fun kicked in. The staff gave us tons of encouragement and coaching, which made a huge difference. What started as wild, aimless throws turned into actual technique—and by the end, we were nailing shots like a true apocalyptic duo. What sets Kick Axe apart is the game variety. Between classic targets, bomb diffusers, and even axe-throwing Battleship, we never got bored. We were literally sweating by the end from all the gameplay. Pro tips: • Go in the early afternoon—it’s quieter, and we got our own lane. • It’s great on a rainy day, especially if you’re looking for something active but social. • There’s a bar if you want to turn it into a chill drinks hang. Highly recommend for anyone looking to try something new, have a laugh, and walk out feeling like a badass.
