As an ugandan, it’s been hard to find east african restaurants that are not just ethiopian(though, i do love ethiopian food!) I can definitely say Swahili Village is the closest taste to home that I’ve gotten at a restaurant here. They have locations in DC, Maryland, and New Jersey, all with similar test different ambiences. DC is a more popular one though, with afrobeats playing while you enjoy your meal, a photographer to capture moments for you in framed photos(not free🥲), and great food overall!
