🔮Are you secretly a crystal girlie? Feast your ‘apatite’ (well technically apatite is a mineral 😝) on these righteous gemstones in the Upper West Side. Astro West is the venture of a third generation mineral dealer and collector, Marc Tanjeloff, whose family has been in the fine mineral and meteorite business for over 60 years. ✨ Located across the street from the American Natural History Museum, I came across this shop after spotting its sparkling display of massive geodes and crystals. Up front they have your standard favorites: amethysts (my birthstone), quartz’s, and fluorites. But in the back was where the objects of my hunt was: ancient fossils and meteorites. ☄️ I have always wanted a piece of jewelry that signified the origins of our cosmos which I imagine to be a piece that combines both fossil and meteorite. There are even Meteorite Hunters whose sole job is to chase and find newly fallen meteorites to harvest for fine trade and jewelry. The prices are rightfully steep for what they represent: light years of cosmic history. 🪨 But if you aren’t looking to dig deep into this well of fascination, there is a geode cracker where you can pick your own geode to crack and see what sparkly bits are inside for about $10+.
