🎷 Jazz Brunch at The Beekman
🎺 The Beekman’s Temple Court and Bar Room hosts a Jazz Brunch every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 3. While the history and luxurious ambience of the building itself makes a great backdrop for a low key brunch, the food menu itself leaves much to be desired. 💰 Before it was “the hotel that Anna Delvey robbed of $11,000 worth of stays,” it was Temple Court, a New York City landmark for being one of Manhattan’s original skyscrapers. It was completed the same year as the Brooklyn Bridge, 1883, and reopened after renovations as a hotel in 2016. It is most recognized for its 9-story open atrium lit by its pyramid skylight window. Designed in the Queen Anne architectural style, its interior is lined with high oak panel walls, bookshelves, and plush furnishings. If your vibes are sophisticated, mysterious, and sexy, this is your place for speakeasy drinks with friends and colleagues alike. 🍳 We started by splitting the Earl Grey Ricotta donuts which were hot and fresh and served with a side of jam. We ordered the breakfast sandwich which comes with a too-herbaceous hash brown and an inappropriate dash of sweet chutney on top of the smoke sausage. Maybe I’m too accustomed to bodega baconeggncheeses, but the seasoning choices were off. 🍸 The hospitality and drinks are superb and generous - no weak, watered down mimosas here. The liquor choices in the cocktail program are top shelf and surprisingly decently-priced with the majority of drinks being $18. Overall, I’ll be back for drinks and jazz, but not for the food at brunch.
