Horse riding IN a stream, a meadow, and through a forrest 🐴
Underrated local experience alert ‼️ I love this place in NJ so much I’ve been here twice bringing two different groups of friends (many of which have not ridden a horse before)! They offer horseback lessons as well, but we chose the 2hr guided horse back tour (there are shorter options as well). They help you pick a horse, and you can provide preferences (a gentler horse who follows the track or a more wild horse full of surprises, a shorter or a taller horse for example). 🌟They led us walking upstream, across a small river, in the Forrest, and across a flower meadow!! 🥰 there will be open fields to gallop Your experience/route will vary by the guide! If it’s your first time you have to purchase a permit which is around $30 (this goes to the State, on its own website) Then the 2hr session it self is around $70-$80 (this goes to the ranch). Again, shorter options are available. Tip is welcomed. The best way to sign up is by texting Ed Diaz (the owner) to reserve in advance, and he’ll help answer any questions you have along the way. You can find his number on their website here: Serene Horse Ranch WORDS OF ADVICE: - wear long sleeves as the branches could scratch you 🌳 -bring a hat with strings so it doesn’t fly off. Most of the time you’re in the forrest but in the meadow you’re exposed to sun ☀️ - this ranch is next to “Dingmans Falls” which is a beautiful hike with lovely waterfalls. I just want to note that both activities are sporty, so plan accordingly. - who you bring with you really matters for this tour. Since you’ll be traveling as a group, the instructor will not let anyone behind. That means if you want to gallop but the rest of the team wants to gently walk across the meadow; then we’re gently walking across 😅
