    Art Deco architecture
This summer is the first time I walked down the iconic Lincoln Road. I’m enamored with art deco buildings in Miami Beach, and they were well incorporated into the mix of awesome geometric building styles on Lincoln Road. I was surprised to learn that Lincoln Road isn’t a road you can drive on. Lincoln Road is an air pedestrian mall with over 200 boutiques. Lincoln Road is generally known for its shopping, restaurants, and culture. I love art deco because it’s beautiful to look at. Art deco is a decorative and architectural style using geometric shapes, clean lines, and luxurious materials. Think Great Gatsby. The Art deco style most notably lasted from 1919 until 1939, but these buildings were built in the 60s. Which I can see in buildings like the Sephora. I would love to take an architecture walking tour here one day in the winter. It was way too hot in August to be doing that. Lincoln Road felt very safe the first time I went, which was a Sunday night. The second time I went was a Wednesday afternoon and my partner felt very alert, feeling like we were being followed. I’ve heard people say bad things about South Beach being ghetto, but it’s the safest I’ve ever felt in Miami. Except maybe the design district. So maybe the critics went when there were spring breakers? I have no idea. Please keep in mind this is all just my personal experience, and the property crime rate in Miami Beach is actually statistically one of the worst, period. If you crave a nice Mediterranean dinner in the area, I suggest The Drexel. Check out my S’more post on it: Incredible $45pp Mediterranean dinner in... Be sure to save this for your next trip to Miami Beach. ⚡️
