When in Boston, everyone knows to get the perennial clam “chowdah” and lobster rolls. But locals like me know that a New England summer is all about the fried whole belly clams and fried oysters; and you can find some of the best right in Boston at Yankee Lobster in the waterfront district. Yes go for the whole belly clams; clam strips are for childish palettes who don’t like sushi. Yankee Lobster’s not that convenient by foot and parking around there is expensive but it’s some of the best clam shack food without driving up to Gloucester or Ipswich. There’s limited indoor seating and plenty of covered outdoor seating. Pro Tip: summer months are when oysters and clams are the most plump.
