The NYC Ferry became my main mode of transportation
Since I moved to LIC's riverside, I suddenly realized that there is a ferry terminal downstairs. Then I started to look at the ferry in addition to the metro every time I go out, and realized that compared to transferring of metro or traffic jam, the ferry is actually faster and sometimes more convenient.
I know I know, I’m a little late to realize this after living in NYC for over a year.
For example, if I'm going from LIC to Dumbo, the metro needs to go to Manhattan first, and then transfer to Dumbo, but if I'm taking the ferry, I can:
1️⃣ take the Astoria Route from LIC to Brooklyn Navy Yard, two stops.
2️⃣ the East River Route, five stops, from Hunters Point South to Dumbo.
The 5 stops between includes Williamsburg, where the subway doesn't go directly.
Ferry is fast, probably only 7 minutes for one stop.
One-way ticket is a bit expensive, but if you can buy a 10-trip ticket set for $27.50, which is $2.75 for a single trip, the same price as Metro.
Oh and, it’s friendly for dogs, I love that.
I usually take my bike, plus the Ferry, which is easy to get on and off, and to everywhere.
