🚤 NYC Cycleboats: not much cycling but lots socializing
The most recent Scouts Summer Social was so much fun, I love how all the Scouts events are always so creative and unique!
NYC Cycleboats was a great choice. Not only did we get to be out on the water on a sunny ☀️ day, but we got to see a beautiful city skyline view and the Statue of Liberty.
Now, I have to say, traveling to Jersey City was not the easiest, since I come from Queens. I never really took public transit into NJ, but it was not as hard as I thought it would be, it was just long rides!
I do like that exiting PATH on Grove Street felt like I entered into another world. The little town vibe was not what I expected, so it was pretty cool to see a new area so close to NYC.
I really liked the activity, but honestly I don’t think you should come on this boat expecting to actually cycle. I feel like everyone peddled like a couple steps and would stop and just sit and chat. I feel like the cycling part was more for show and to add something different to the experience. All that to say, I think it’s still a fun time and worth it if you and a big group of people want get out on the water on a nice day for a celebration or social.
Also, it’s busy waters with lots of other boats, jet skis, ships, causing bigger waves, so make sure to prepare yourself for a rocky ride.
It was so wonderful to see and meet other Scouts, hopefully we get to see each other more often trying out different experiences in and outside of NYC! 🫶
