$50 Dassai Sake Brewery Tour + Tasting! Only in NY🍶
Dassai just opened their new brewery, Dassai Blue, in Hyde Park. They're saying it's better than the stuff from Japan, probably because of the water quality there.
So, I decided to check it out and booked a tour with a tasting for $50 on their website. It was a bit of a trek from the Lower East Side, almost a 2-hour drive, but totally worth the trip.
The tour lasted a bit longer than expected, about 30 minutes instead of the 20 mentioned online. It's a new spot, so maybe they're still getting into the groove. It was pretty cool to learn how they make their sake, though.
Then came the tasting part – we tried the Dassai 23, Dassai Nama, and Dassai 50. It felt like the alcohol content was a bit lower. Right now, they're using rice from Japan, but they're planning to switch to local rice soon. The Dassai 50 is only available here in the U.S., but I'm all about the 23. Buying directly from the brewery is way cheaper, so I grabbed 3 bottles to take home. And I couldn't leave without picking up some Sake Kasu Face Masks – $35 for a pack of 5. Pretty cool find, if you ask me!
