Skydiving but INDOORS!?!?!
I spent my birthday bending gravity by indoor skydiving!!! It was such an out of body, completely new and fun experience.
We had a great skydiving instructor named Kevin who guided us through our session. Step one was suiting us up in our fly suits and helmets. Step two was watching a short safety instructional video before flying. Once we were fully briefed, it was time to fly!
My first round was a bit shaky. I wasn’t completely balanced and Kevin gave me hand signals to extend my legs and relax. By the second round, I knew what to expect, and I was doing so well that Kevin let go of me and I was able to fly by myself! The second go around also included my add-on of the high flight for the last 30 seconds. I was taken up higher in the tunnel to free fall up and down in waves. The high flight was worth the extra money and I would highly recommend adding it onto your experience.
It’s hard to describe the feeling of being inside the tunnel. The rising and falling feeling is so freeing. Being suspended in the air without Kevin holding onto me felt really powerful.
I would recommend asking for a red helmet with a face shield or tilting your head up so the wind passes through you as I was having trouble breathing and that took away from the experience.
Overall, this was such a cool, unique way to spend my birthday evening. Anyone who’s a thrill seeker and down for an adventure would have a great time flying!
The 2-flight 60 seconds pack is normally $104 or $74 if you go before 4:30 pm. The high flight add-on is $20. You won’t be able to take photos inside the fly zone, but you can pay for professional photos and videos online.
My friend and I traveled to the Paramus, NJ location by taking the A to 175th street GWB buses and then took a Jitney bus to Paramus. To me this seems like the easiest way for NYers to get to iFly, though I was told they are going to open a location in Queens soon, so fingers crossed!
