Would’ve made this a check-in but I really wanted to share my story about my experience serving on kids ministry at City Rev Church in south Florida, and the post feature allows me to write. I love to serve in kid’s ministry for several reasons. The kids ask questions that allow for us to grow the group’s knowledge and faith. There’s a sense of purpose and meaning embedded in volunteering, which enriches me. I’m grateful for the opportunity to encourage and build up the children through Jesus. I know God is in the origin of why I serve in kids ministry today. It started when I was talking with an acquaintance in the Young Adults ministry night. I told a young woman I was thinking about serving in kids ministry, and she was awestruck because she was searching for someone to fill in for her position in Kids Ministry as she transitions to another church’s ministries. God’s timing is so good! In this church’s kids ministry for kids K-5th grade, we sing and dance to worship songs before breaking into smaller discussion groups where we play games and learn about Jesus. One lesson was about how we are God’s masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10). Another was a series titled, “God’s Got This.” In all the kids ministry positions I’ve served in, the children’s safety is made a priority. A background check and personal screening is conducted. It’s also mandatory that volunteers and paid staff complete child safety training. We don’t leave kids alone with one adult, and we have a check-in sticker system to ensure kids leave with the right parent(s)/guardian(s). City Rev Church in Pembroke Pines, Florida occasionally holds worship nights in which it’s almost entirely singing worship songs. I recently attended one of these worship nights for the first time. I came in an hour late, but it was totally acceptable — I felt welcome and I was able to join the crowd without drawing much attention to myself. I love going to worship nights because I reflect on how big my God is compared to my troubles. By bringing my troubles and worries to Jesus, I feel the freedom I have in Christ. I don’t feel the weight of the burdens of this world when I praise Jesus for what he’s done. I feel so free, consumed by a peace that surpasses my understanding. After worship, we were encouraged to talk with one another. The community here has been a blessing through and through. It’s inspiring to learn how God is working in people’s lives. GOOD FRIDAY 4/18/25 • West Pines Campus (pictured) - 21113 Johnson Street - 6pm and 7:30pm EASTER 4/29/25 • West Pines Campus - 21113 Johnson Street - 9am, 10:45am*; and 12:30pm • Cooper City Campus - at Cooper City High School auditorium - 11am *Tip: the 4/20/25 10:45am service at the West Pines campus will be the busiest time. Just fyi. Totally okay if you come in late but I recommend trying to come early so you have the easiest time parking. 👌 There are kids activities that will take place during the sermon – I think for ages preschool through 5th grade. It’s actual Easter activities with learning about what Easter is about - not merely like a babysitting service hahah. ⛪️ I’ve been coming to City Rev Church for about five years now and wanted to share some of the things God is doing here. 💜 This video is from young adults night. Young adults nights for college age students through 27ish/28ish year olds. The Holy Spirit was totally moving, stirring in our hearts. 📖 Our young adults pastor, Pastor Jeremy, taught from 1 Corinthians. We’re always encouraged to follow along with the scripture in our personal Bibles or Bible app. Some attendees take notes in their phones or in a journal. 🗓️ Young Adults Nights at City Rev Church are almost every Monday at 7pm/7:30pm. If you’re coming with an expectation to build friendships with other followers of Jesus, then I recommend arriving at 7pm.
