Okay clearly I’m a little hyperfixated on making jam recently! The next jam I made was using fresh strawberries from a farm local to my home, and even though fresh strawberry season has come to an end in most places you can still make this with store bought strawberries.
Here’s what I did to prep:
*first, I took the stem off every one and mashed them up with a potato masher. This was a bit easier for me as my strawberries were a little soft from the end of the season. If using store bought, you may need to heat them up to soften them before you mash them.
The recipe I used didn’t even call for pectin but it did call for fresh lemon juice and sugar. I also needed a food thermometer for this recipe, as everything needed to be heated up to exactly 220 degrees before it was done.
Thinking I might to raspberries next as I always prefer to pick farm fresh in season… any other ideas? 💡 ...More
