It’s not a trip to London without a thorough visit at the British Museum, at least for our first time here. The British museum is one of the most abundant museums in the world, with objects and artifacts from every continent. Even if you’re not into history specifically, the architecture itself is marvelous enough for a visit.
Without an agenda, we spent a whole day here, and honestly we needed more time. Stumbling upon the Parthenon that was just taken as a whole, and seeing broken ceramics and jade from Yuanmingyuan displayed, and displaced, I had mixed feelings. While it was incredibly cool to experience history, (and yes, I am gonna be that person), remembering that lots of these artifacts were taken during war or coercive conditions made it a bit controversial, especially knowing a lot of these nations have demanded the items back.
While they’re still being preserved though, and in one place, this was a worth while and once-in-a-lifetime visit, to see some of the world’s oldest histories in one place!...More
