There’s nothing better than a backyard taco party. Taquizas Veldez from Chef Ivan delivers the fun with fresh and incredible flavors.
Valdez is a military veteran & former chef. He left the restaurant world in July 2020 to help care for his ill mother who passed away in March 2021. During that time, Valdez earned a certification in Electrical Maintenance & Construction & a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology. The culinary world kept calling him and now he’s back. Taquizas Valdez is a love letter to his late mother, Rosa. The restaurant celebrates their Mexican heritage and time they spent together catering “taquizas”for others.
I highly recommend the marinated carne asada sopes with black bean puree, onion, cilantro, romaine, lime crema, queso fresco, & salsa roja.
My favorite tacos included the El Americano made with delicious marinated skirt steak, munster cheese, romaine, tomato, & lime crema on a flour tortilla. The beef was super tender and extremely flavorful. I really enjoyed the flour tortilla. That was a nice touch. It reminded me of a steak burrito.
My second favorite taco was the Hongos Al Chuy made with an incredible mushroom medley, munster cheese, onion, cilantro, lime crema, avocado, & salsa macha on a corn tortilla. It’s one of the best veggie tacos I’ve ever had.
