Semma in the West Village has a Michelin star and plenty of hype, but personally, I didn’t think it fully lived up to it. The flavors are bold, and the dishes feel thoughtfully prepared, but for the price and the buzz, I was expecting more. That said, I’m always excited to see more South Asian cuisine, especially regional South Indian food, getting the recognition it deserves. Standouts for me were the gunpowder dosa and the nalli elumbu (lobster tail), which was rich and well-spiced. 🖤Michelin-Worthy Quality: Having dined at other Michelin-starred establishments, Seema certainly holds its own. The dishes are refined, creative, and showcase a high level of culinary skill.
Cons:
❤️Oxtail Dish: While the oxtail is a popular choice, it was quite fatty, which made it less enjoyable for me. The texture and richness didn’t quite suit my palate.
