tucked just off the main road on a quiet east side street, sam sunny is one of those hidden gems you only find when youโre really looking ๐ โ or lucky ๐.
we tried their pork belly, kimchi & tofu ๐ท๐ฅฌ๐ฒ combo & the seafood fried rice with katsu ๐๐ค๐, both served sizzling on hot stone plates ๐ฅ๐ชจ that kept everything piping hot until the very last bite ๐ฎโ๐จ.
the pork belly was grilled to perfection โ crispy edges, rich flavor โ & the combo of melty tofu with that spicy, funky kimchi just hit ๐ฅ. though we kinda wished the tofu-to-kimchi ratio was a little more balanced โ๏ธ (especially since the hot stone rice costs extra โ $5 ๐ธ), it was still totally worth it.
the seafood fried rice? not salty at all (๐), which let the side of gooey mozzarella cheese ๐ง really shine โจ. & yes, cheese with fried rice might sound chaotic ๐
, but trust: it works ๐.
