I’ve been coming to rubulad ever since I moved to nyc. The venue itself is beautifully eclectic. Paper-mache eye balls, slides (be wary of the branch), and of course the iconic rainbow mouth.
On July 3rd we went to see a lineup of soulful electronic artists (their words not mine). It was a Monday so we weren’t expecting the biggest turnout but it was pretty baron. I’d recommend going on a Friday or Saturday to get the full Rubulad experience—i.e. some hardcore swaying, shoulder touching drunk strangers, and potentially a small mosh pit.
As for the acts, I’m unsure if I can even comment. Im not one for electronic music. I did however enjoy the 2 or 3 people interpretive dancing and the one guy lying on the floor with his eyes closed.
I really love rubulad and would recommend it to any new comers in the city. The community is great and it’s always a great time (even if you go on a Monday). ...More
