I finally got to go to the 4DX theater at Regal Cinema in Times Square to see How To Train Your Dragon. A 4D theater is one where the movie is in 3D, plus the seats move based on what’s happening on screen, and there are other elements like puffs of wind, spritzes of water, or theater smoke.
This one was INTENSE. When the seats started moving, the audience was screaming and cheering. I was flung around all over the place! Don’t know how people didn’t spill popcorn everywhere. But it was so much fun, especially during the flying sequences. The ticket costs more than a regular movie, but you’re really paying for an experience.
I don’t recommend this to anyone who has tactile sensitivity to vibration, motion sickness, or any pain when your body is jostled. If you love roller coasters, go for it!
