South Florida Guide
This recco is for the locals! I’ve been to 3-4 Asian grocery stores in south Florida. While Oriental Mart in Lauderhill isn’t the biggest one, it does have the most of what I actually need: items like bags of rice for my rice cooker and quality nori for making my torched avocado nigiri. I go here once every month or two to stock up on some Asian food staples and splurge on some special treats. 😋
The most general distinction about Oriental Mart in north Lauderhill is that it leans more Korean (like compared to New York Mart in Sunrise, which leans more Chinese).
Here are some of the reasons I love Oriental Mart:
☺️ Easy to walk around because there’s no pungent fishy smell caused by a non-frozen non-canned fish section - which is pleasantly unlike the bigger Asian grocery stores
🍚 Best rice selection I’ve seen
🍙 Largest nori selection I’ve seen
🕺 A few BTS items if you’re into that
🍬 Lots of sweet snacks and salty snacks ofc
🌶️ Kimchi - see photo
🍡 Mochi and other sweet treats
🐱 Hello Kitty Milkis drinks and Hello Kitty snacks
🧋 Boba mixes and canned boba drinks
🫚 Produce aisle with items like Asian pears, massive ginger root, seafood mushrooms, and sometimes great deals on produce — and I’ve never seen a fly here
🍶 The biggest shoyu and sake selection I’ve seen. My significant other likes fruity sake and this is a great place to buy small sizes of them to sample them.
🥤 79 cent canned sodas in THIS economy
