🎀 The Show:
As soon as you enter the theater, head to the counter where the staff will hand you two envelopes (one white and one yellow) along with a yellow sheet of paper. You’ll need to write down a single word related to a personal memory, place it in the yellow envelope, and drop it into a box. The entire performance is shaped by the envelopes Vinny randomly selects, making every show completely unique.
The show is built around the concept of a memory palace, and through these memories, you get to witness emotions like fear, love, and more. I didn’t expect it to be so deeply moving—it feels almost like a group therapy session.
I highly recommend seeing it, whether you’re going alone or with friends or family.

mindplay is a funny and magical one man show that promises to read the minds of the audience in a small, cute, west village theatre. there were a lot of magic tricks involving both mind and a fantastic set with an overarching theme of mind and memory.
i honestly walked in a little skeptical of what this show would be like—if vinny, the man of the one man show, could really “mind read” or if this was a gimmick.
i was pleasantly surprised!! vinny was a charismatic and loving performer. even though audience participation is one of the scariest things to me, i felt like vinny made things as smooth and fun as possible. he also really did pull off some amazing mind reading and magic. despite my skepticism of magic, i walked away in wonder of how he did these things and a sense of joy and connection with the entire audience. ...More

⭐️ “Following critically acclaimed, sold-out engagements at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles and Arena Stage in Washington, DC, the smash-hit Mindplay will enthrall audiences in New York City this December. Created and performed by Drama Desk Award-nominated mentalist Vinny DePonto (Charlatan), written by Vinny DePonto and Josh Koenigsberg, and directed by Andrew Neisler, Mindplay invites audiences to an unforgettable, gasp-inducing experience in which your thoughts and memories play a leading role. Infused with intrigue and mystery, DePonto guides participants on a jaw-dropping, interactive journey as he reads minds while also revealing his own.”
💭 This was definitely an interesting show. Vinny uses psychology concepts to show how powerful the mind can be while including personal anecdotes. He performs some cool tricks with audience members - tho honestly, most of it I’ve seen other mentalists do in one form or another (ex. Stalker at New World Stages, such a great show!). I wish he would’ve done more tbh. Felt a little drawn-out in the acting/anecdotal parts. No hate, just my honest opinion. The most interesting part was a person’s thought being a nightmare of being eaten by pink iguanas and the seriousness of the associated trick added to the hilarity of the thought 💀 I did find the set really cool! The small theatre also made the show feel more intimate. Overall, it was a chill mentalist show where the theme was the brain, your thoughts, and psychology.
📝 Stay for the final bow at the very end of the show for a 🤫. You can also meet and talk to him after the show in the lobby!
🍹 They have a bar/concessions where you buy alcoholic drinks, soda, and snacks.
💲 Tickets range from $79-159. You can get day of rush tickets on TodayTix for $48! I definitely wouldn’t pay full price, not worth it imo.

I just got back from the mentalist show “Mindplay” by Vinny DePonto and I loved it! It’s was a very unique and an interesting experience. It’s a one man show but all based on interactive audience participation. The runtime is approximately 90 minutes without an intermission.
Upon entering theater, audience is asked to fill out a slip of paper with something that’s on their mind: a dream, a memory, a fear or a loss. The notes are all placed in a bowl next to the stage before the show begins. Then those random slips gets pulled from the bowl randomly throughout the show to be revealed by the mentalist. Obviously, he can’t read your thoughts but it constantly had me questioning “how??”
Thanks @S’more City for this truly mind-blowing experience!! 🤯 Anyone who likes magic shows will love this one!...More
