I finally found my favorite shooting range near Chicago—I highly recommend McMiller Sports Center, two hours away from Chicago.
💰Prices
Day Pass for all ranges: $32/person
Rental: $50 for a bundle including three firearms, choose any size, and it can be shared within a group
Target papers: $1 and $5 each
Ammunition varies: 9mm about $19 for 40 rounds, 7.62 $40 for 50 rounds
‼️Important Note:
Residents of Illinois without a Firearm License are prohibited from possessing and carrying ammunition into Illinois, so consider whether you can finish your ammo before closing. However, the staff was great—they saved our leftover ammo for next time.
🔫 Experience Process:
Upon arrival, go to the range office to buy a Day Pass and choose your equipment. You can rent a bundle to shoot at the range or rent a shotgun for clay shooting.
There's also archery, but we didn't get to try it.
After purchasing, a range officer will instruct on how to use the equipment, sign a rental waiver, and submit a driver's license/passport.
Unlike other ranges with many restrictions for unlicensed players, here the range officer gives a brief introduction and then lets you play on your own.
