There have been long lines since this new Bangladeshi street food place opened in Jamaica, Queens. This spot is called “Matha Nosto”. It’s a small place that sells street food snacks popular in Bangladesh, such as fuchka, jhal muri, haleem, etc. They also serve drinks like lassi and “Pagla Pani”.
I was most excited to try the “fuchka shots” — no, it’s not an alcoholic shot by any means haha. Fuchka are savory, crispy crunchy puffs that are filled with chickpeas, lentils, potatoes and topped with shaved egg. Each shot glass is filled with a different sauce/chutney that you pour into the puff and then you pop the entire puff into your mouth. It’s sooo good. If you like savory, spicy snacks, you should try it.
This place is small, so there is little seating inside. But there are some stools they have outside that you can sit on.
Even though the lines are long, I would definitely go back again for the fuchka. I can see why this place has quickly become popular...More
