Went for my first event organized by Pankti Doshi at Madam Ji. She organized a chai and chocolate tasting session, guided by renowned chocolatier Jesse Koones! The tickets were $35, but if you follow Pankti’s page, you can get early bird tickets for a little cheaper (https://linktr.ee/partywithpankti )
He guided us through the flavor profiles as we tasted the different chocolates and as he was talking about it, I could kind of taste some of the flavor profiles he was referring to! The chai thankfully was not too sweet so it sort of served as a bit of a palate cleanser (although by the end of the night they started charging for the chai and water was just enough for me, haha). I ultimately couldn’t finish all the chocolates given (9 in total) and ended up getting a to go box home to enjoy the treats at home.
My favorite were the bonbons served at the end (best for last) which were created by the chocolatier himself. I enjoyed the event quite a bit, and because I went by myself I got a chance to meet new people (even made movie plans with a few of them!)
Pankti Doshi does events that range from more intimate ones like this one to more bigger events like Bollywood night. While events target Indian diaspora, they are open to every one of all cultures. ...More

Had the opportunity to check out a comedy show hosted at Madam Ji, an upscale Indian fusion bar and restaurant, that was hosted by the Mai Soli Foundation and the Eva Collective, which advocate for women’s rights and education across counties in South Asia like Bangladesh. There were four hilarious local NYC comedians, including Shaafi who Id been following for so long on Instagram, and included snacks and mango lassi! They’re always hosting cute cultural events for the desi diaspora like Bollywood Nights (check out the Eva Collectives upcoming Disco Diwani), that might be fun to check out one evening but a glance about Madam Ji, looking at the regular menu makes me think the entrees, albeit delicious, are definitely pricey and more for a special occasion!...More
