South Florida Guide
You don’t have to wait for F1 Miami to enjoy the thrill of fast cars in South Florida. I enjoyed my visit to K1 Speed in Hollywood, FL (Broward County, 10 minutes from the Fort Lauderdale Airport). They’re open every day. A family of 4 reported a price of $180 for 3 races. It usually takes around 10 minutes to complete a race.
I had a good time. I haven’t seen the staff do the best job of creating an atmosphere that’s fun/energetic - it’s almost like they are burnt out or bored. This may be why the Yelp score is 3.3/5 (252 reviews the day I type this), but that hasn’t stopped me from coming back.
There are two tracks - one for adult karts, and one for junior electric karts.
There’s an arcade with air hockey. I haven’t seen it be very busy.
There’s some quick food served here, but I always feel gross after racing and eat elsewhere.
K1 Speed has dozens of locations around the United States and other countries. In Florida, there are locations in Hollywood/ Fort Lauderdale, Daytona Beach, Jacksonville, Miami / Medley, Orlando, and Tampa Bay with a location in Riviera Beach opening soon.
I recommend K1 speed to visitors who crave an indoor air conditioned activity as a backup to a beach day that got too rainy or hot.
