My friend from Arizona came to SD for a couple days so we hit a bunch of the typical tourist spots plus some of my usual hangout locations. It’s fun to revisit places I usually only visit with tourist friends.
If you are planning to visit SD or are a local feeling bored I recommend adding some of these activities to your list.
Day 1: we got burritos and watched a great sunset in OB at sunset cliffs
Day 2: we explored Balboa park. We got lucky with a walk in orchid show, the Sunday organ concert at 2 PM, international cottages open to visit, the “TASTE SAN DIEGO: FILIPINO CULINARY JOURNEYS” exhibit (open sat&sun), free Timken museum entry, botanical garden, people watching, and a bit of trail walking
Then we had dinner at Casa de Reyes in Old Town while listening to music. If you have time, stroll the shops and enjoy some fresh tortillas.
We spent the evening walking around Seaport Village and watching the remainder of comic con fizzle out, then had drinks at a bar in downtown
Day 3: We did a morning hike at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve ($18 day pass), had lunch at DTF in UTC, and walked La Jolla shores. There were some tiny tide pools to explore and lots of sea lions were out.
We had veggie burritos from Don Tommy’s and enjoyed them at shelter island while the city started to sparkle after sunset. Then we cooled off with An’s gelato in OB.
Day 4: we had morning drinks at Moniker Coffee Co. in Liberty Station and walked around the market before she had to head to the airport. ...More
