Skipped the skyline booms this year and spent my Fourth of July at Fourth World—HOLO’s annual day-to-night music marathon. It was my first time at both the event and the venue, and I totally get the hype now.
By midday the outdoor area was already buzzing. Every direction you turned, a DJ or live act was tucked into a nook—no massive stages, no projections, just pockets of music and people colliding. It felt more like stumbling into a series of sound experiments than watching a traditional set.
That lack of formal “stages” could’ve been a downside, but honestly, it made the experience more immersive. You weren’t watching a show—you were inside it. The crowd was vibey, and there was always something unexpected around the corner. No one energy dominated.
What I appreciated most: this wasn’t about big names. Fourth World champions local, underground talent. It felt personal and community-driven in a way that bigger festivals just don’t. I’d go again in a heartbeat—maybe next time I’ll stay for the full 17 hours...More
