I got tickets to see Floyd Collins at the Lincoln Center through LincTix, which offers $35 tickets for theater goers age 18-35! It stars Jeremy Jordan, who is phenomenal. It’s a pretty intense and emotional show, about a man trapped in a cave in 1920s Kentucky (based on a true story, so you can read what happens to him). The music is haunting, production super immersive. A very moving show if you are into that type of experience. ...More

“Floyd Collins" tells the haunting true story of a Kentucky caver trapped underground in 1925. Set in the Vivian Beaumont Theater at Lincoln Center, the production leans into minimalism and emotion over spectacle — a choice that won’t be for everyone.
Jeremy Jordan is, as expected, phenomenal in the title role. His voice brings depth and urgency to Floyd’s plight, and his presence lights up every scene he’s in. The show loses momentum during moments without him, particularly in scenes where he’s absent or not singing.
Jason Gotay, who plays Floyd’s brother Homer, also gives a strong performance, adding heart and tenderness to the story. Their scenes together are among the show’s most compelling.
That said, this production didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I tend to prefer shows with richer sets and more elaborate costumes, and the sparse staging here made it harder to feel immersed. While the true story behind "Floyd Collins" is undeniably powerful and important, the production felt flat at times — especially when it strayed from Jeremy Jordan’s captivating performance.
