Everglades Holiday Park is a great place to take an airboat tour through the Everglades, and it’s only about 30ish minutes from Fort Lauderdale.
At this location, there’s a gator show you can see. I’m not sure if this show is included in your $40ish airboat tour adult ticket or if I got to go in because I had a friend who worked here.
The seating area was mostly covered, which was great! No fans or misters though, so I imagine the experience would be very hot in the summer.
The show felt short - was about 30 minutes long. A lot of that time felt like us waiting for more people to come in and find a seat on the bleachers.
The men doing the show on the Saturday I went were absolutely hilarious. I laughed more than I do at any Disney or Universal attraction. 😄
The gators are rescue gators found in peoples backyards. I learned gator removal is free in Florida because most gator catchers will take the gators to a place that humanely kills the gator and then the leathery skin is sold away. The gators here were rescued as part of the men’s no-kill gator removal group.
The gators didn’t do a lot of tricks like you’d expect if you had SeaWorld in mind. And you don’t pet the gators or anything as part of this show. But you can pet a smaller gator afterwards for like $15 or something. (We didn’t haha.)
The company’s website says the alligator shoes are “undeniably thrilling,” and “adrenaline-packed, filled with jaw-dropping stunts,” and I feel like that’s a stretch. 😅 They did cool things in the show I saw, but the show doesn’t live up to some of these descriptors in my opinion.
My verdict is this show is a skippable thing if you’re here on vacation with other things to do. But if you don’t have other things to do, it’s cool to see.

If you’ve seen the show Gator Boys, you’re gonna love this outdoor experience.
Our tour guide, Malachi, is a highly knowledgeable college student from Georgia studying marine biology. Malachi was highly entertaining while making us feel comfortable and safe. The whole airboat was cracking up at his jokes.
I appreciate that Captain Malachi turns boat around when we spot an animal so that everyone could get a good sighting of the wildlife. We saw three North American alligators, an osprey, a vulture, and two American Coot birds during the hour-ish time we were on the tour.
Captain Malachi taught us about the conservation and preservation of this protected biodiverse habitat. Malachi even taught us some survival skills. He was awesome.

I had an epic time touring the Florida Everglades here at Everglades Holiday Park, located 30 minutes away from Fort Lauderdale. These airboat tours last about an hour and cost around $40 per adult.
I recommend requesting Captain Malachi. He is hilarious, he’s entertaining, he and knows his stuff. He even teaches some survival skills and allows time for questions. I like how he maneuvered the airboat to allow each side of the boat to have a good view of the wildlife.
We saw an osprey, three North American alligators, a vulture, and an American coot. It was awesome. Be mindful the temperature and season could impact what kind of wildlife or how much wildlife you see.
Though the airboats are shaded, be sure to pack sunscreen. If you purchase your tickets on-site on a busy day, you may be waiting for an airboat for over an hour. I also recommend packing snacks or a Publix sub you can enjoy while you wait or while on the boat. Also, remember to bring some extra cash to tip your guide/captain.
Stay tuned for my other posts about this awesome excursion. There’s even more to do in addition to the airboats.
