One of my absolute favorite weekends in Dumbo just wrapped up β Dumbo Open Studios, held this year on April 26β27! Every year, artists across Dumbo open their doors and welcome you right into their workspaces. It is one of the most special experiences β you get to meet the artists, see their work in progress, hear about their process, and even pick up a piece (or two) directly from them. π§πΌβπ¨π¨
It is such a unique mix of vast and intimate β you can wander from studio to studio, meet a huge variety of artists working across all kinds of mediums, and have real conversations about their art and their inspirations. It really feels like being let in on a beautiful behind-the-scenes secret. π₯Ή
I look forward to this every year and cannot recommend it enough if you are in New York in the spring. Dumbo Open Studios is organized by Art in DUMBO, and they usually post a full map and list of participating artists and spaces, so you can plan your route or just wander and see what pulls you in.
Highly, highly recommend marking your calendar for next year β it is one of those NYC experiences that reminds you why you love this city.
