Every year, the New York Philharmonic puts on concerts in each borough of NYC! This year I went to concerts in both Manhattan and Queens.
Manhattan’s takes place on the Great Lawn at Central Park. And it is PACKED. I would recommend going early if you want to have a good spot, but chances are you will not have a ton of space to yourself. Either way it was exciting to be among so many classical music fans!
The Queens concert was in Cunningham Park, and because it rained that night, the crowd was a lot thinner. We were able to hear the music and announcements much better but I’m sure the crowd would have been bigger with nicer weather.
Each show ends with fireworks and Central Park’s just hit different. So nice w the city skyline in the background. In Queens, the fireworks are close to the crowd so are louder as a result.
Either way this concert is a must see if you like free performances! A great place to have a picnic w friends and listen to some world class music. ...More
