I had a great meal at Chengdu Bistro in Chicago, where the Sichuan flavors really delivered. We started with the crab rangoon, which were crisp and not too sweet, and the Sichuan wontons, which came in a rich, spicy chili oil and were a standout.
The noodles were the real stars. The Yibin flaming noodles were smoky and chewy with just the right level of heat, while the Sichuan zajiang noodles with stewed peas had a deeper, savory flavor. The Peking duck fried rice was rich and satisfying, with crispy bits of duck throughout. The space is casual and modern, and the service was quick.
