Looking for a a weekend getaway that’s close enough to road trip to from the city? I would highly recommend checking out Assateague Island National Park. The island is home to over 300 wild horses that roam freely throughout the park, they’re hard to miss! You can enjoy the park by camping, hiking, or my favorite, biking!
🚲 : If you’re trying to see as much as possible and are not planning on camping overnight, I would highly recommend biking! You can rent bikes at Assateage Outfitters right at the visitor center for $20! The owner is super kind and can point you to where you can find the horses that day
🛶: They offer kayak excursions as well at Assateage Outfitters, I didn’t partake this time but I will definitely be checking it out in the future.
⛺️: Camping is allowed and is definitely on my list for the next trip! However, Ocean City, MD is only 15 mins away from the park so we did stay at the boardwalk instead for this trip.
Be sure to always follow the rules and stay 40 feet away from the horses!
